Guide: What’s the Right Height for Your Cane?

If you’re unsure how tall your cane should be, it’s easy to measure the right length at home.

As a rule of thumb, a cane’s length should be about half your total height. For the most precise fit, measure from your wrist to the floor as shown here:

Stand upright with your shoulders relaxed and arms resting down at your sides—ideally wearing your regular shoes.
Have someone measure from the floor up to your wrist. This measurement is the ideal length for your cane, from the floor to the top of the handle. It doesn’t need to be exact to the centimeter, but should be within +/- 2 cm.
